Kate Ladner

Kate Ladner Soprano

Born in Adelaide, but now resident in France, Kate Ladner studied at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music and is a former winner of the Australian Opera Trust Prize.

In her native Australia, engagements have included Juliette Roméo et Juliette for the State Opera of South Australia and West Australian Opera; Vitellia La Clemenza di Tito, Donna Anna Don Giovanni, Desdemona Otello (a performancethat earned her a "Green Room" nomination) and Violetta La Traviata for Opera Australia; and the title role in Aïda and Violetta La Traviata for the State Opera of South Australia.For the State Opera of South Australia, she also sang Freia Das Rheingold, Helmwige Die Walküre and Third Norn Götterdämmerung with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra conducted by Asher Fish, performances now available on Melba Recordings CD.

She made her debut at the Staatstheater Stuttgart as Blonde Die Entführung aus dem Serail in a production now available on Arthaus DVD. For this role she was nominated as Best New Artist by Opernhaus Welt Magazine.

Other European engagements have included creating Eleanor of Aquitaine in Stephen Barlow's King at Canterbury Cathedral; Micaëla Carmen for Graz Opera; Vivetta L'Arlesiana, Countess Almaviva Le nozze di Figaro and Violetta La Traviata for Opera Holland Park; the title role in Manon for English Touring Opera; Elvira L'Italiana in Algeri for Garsington Opera; and Violetta La Traviata for the Macedonia Opera in Skopje.

She appears regularly in concert, her engagements including Finzi Dies Natalis and Opera Galas with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra; tours of the Mozart Requiem with the English Chamber Orchestra and the Ulster Orchestra; Richard Strauss Lieder with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra; and Classical Spectaculars for Raymond Gubbay Ltd.

Current engagements include Magda La rondine for Opera Holland Park, the title role in Salome for Opera Australia and her debut at the Buxton Festival singing the Tsarevna in Rimsky Korsakov’s Kaschey The Immortal and the title role in Sibelius’ The Maiden in the Tower.
