MARTIN LLOYD-EVANS
DIRECTOR Martin Lloyd-Evans read Physics at Manchester University and studied Theatre Arts at Bretton Hall College. Currently, he is Resident Producer at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. At the Guildhall, his productions have included UK première of The Aspern Papers (which received a Royal Philharmonic Society Award nomination), Postcard from Morocco, The Rape of Lucretia, Jonathan Dove’s The Little Green Swallow, The Beggar’s Opera, Maskerade and Capriccio. He works regularly for Opera Holland Park, where he has directed Andrea Chenier, L’Amore dei Tre Re, Don Giovanni, Le nozze di Figaro, The Queen of Spades and Stiffelio. For British Youth Opera, he has directed A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Così fan tutte; for Garden Opera, Carmen, Così fan tutte, Don Giovanni, La bohème and The Barber of Seville; and for Mid Wales Opera, La bohème, Rigoletto and La traviata. Other work has included Carmen and The Mikado at the Penang State Festival; the Royal Philharmonic Society award-winning première of Matthew King’s On London Fields for Hackney Music Development Trust; and Cendrillon, Le nozze di Figaro, L’heure espagnole, L’enfant et les sortilègesand Falstaff for the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. His theatre work includes Dog in a Manger in Edinburgh and London, and Wallace and Gromit: Alive on Stage on tour and the West End and extensive work with internationally acclaimed theatre company Cheek by Jowl.
